Dan Mahoney and Bayport Senior Transportation Services are the answer to the prayers of many seniors, particularly those in retirement residences. Many of us no longer have a car. A taxi and a driver who will drop us off at an appointment often does not meet our needs. Dan and Bayport do. Dan himself is kind, caring, efficient and looks after his seniors. He will provide a wheelchair or a walker. He helps the less mobile ones into his car and walks with us to the appointment. He isn’t just a transport person he is completely a support person for us. Not everyone has a family member who can accompany us and Dan is the compassionate helper we need. I recommend him to everyone in my retirement residence and I would never use anyone else for my transport. I just wish he had a star rating for his service because I would be giving him 5 gold ones.

Dan provided transportation services for my dad to and from his residence and the dialysis unit. He built a great rapport with my dad and his service was always punctual, caring, and top-notch. He would ensure that my dad was well situated at the dialysis unit before leaving and always on-time to pick him up. Caring for your elderly parents can be very stressful at times, so I cannot express the peace of mind that I had knowing that Bayport Senior Transport was a partner in my dad’s care. When my dad fell and broke his hip and hospitalized for a few months, Dan came to visit my dad. I know my dad really appreciated the visits and conversations. And when my dad was discharged from the hospital, Dan was there to help us organize some special equipment to ensure a safe transfer from the hospital to the home. When my mom lost her license due to Alzheimer’s I found Dan Mahoney to provide transportation services to allow her some independence. At first she was very against it, I asked her to just give it a try. It took an initial meeting and she immediately felt comfortable with Dan. Dan was a consummate professional. Early, patient, and more than kind enough to laugh at my bad jokes on the drive to my appointment!
When I didn't have any other options — since I'm not a senior myself, no other similar service could or would help me, and didn't really know anyone in Ottawa well enough to ask for three or so hours of their time (and being required to have someone take me to, from, and stay nearby during the entire duration of a dental appointment) — he was a real lifesaver.
Most importantly, he was willing to entertain what may or may not seem like a strange request and phone my anxious, elderly mother to let her know how one and only pride and joy was doing, where we were, and when I'd be back home. That's real customer service: serving not just the client, but the client's needs, which included the client's family. That's what this is all about, right? Taking care of people and letting their family know that they're in good hands?
What I've lost in a wisdom tooth I've gained in knowing there's someone I can call on again in future if another such medical appointment should ever rear its ugly head.
I'd gladly put myself in Dan's trustworthy hands and therefore would wholeheartedly and without a shadow of a doubt or hesitation recommend him to anyone looking for a courteous non-emergency medical escort service. :)

I met Dan as a provider for transportation for my father and was impressed by his deep caring. My father, Alan McCleery, was an Olympic athlete and loved his sport of kayaking which he did until age 92. Dan met my father for a trip to the Passport Office and took a genuine interest in him. It was fall and a bit late in the season. Dan reached out to take my Dad to coffee at Tim's and other places and called him just to check up on him. We didn't realize that a symptom of dementia was a comfort with familiar. Dan kept calling and emailed me (in Toronto) and asked after my Dad. Finally, this summer arrived (2022) and Dan was ready to take him kayaking. Dan wanted to help him with the sport he loved, to get to Rideau Canoe Club, and out on the water. My Dad passed but before he did. Dan came to the hospital. My father was very touched. Dan did this because he deeply cares about people, he never received compensation for all the time he took for my father. He has a huge heart. I owe him a big debt of gratitude. He is a wonderful person!

My mother continues to enjoy getting out to do her own grocery shopping but is no longer able to drive. I reached out to Dan for assistance in getting her out to do her errands every couple of weeks. Dan Mahoney and Bayport Senior Transportation have been driving me to medical and personal appointments for several months now. His service is first class and his rates are fair and reasonable.
He is always on time, he is patient and kind, and he really understands the unique needs that seniors have when they are being driven to and from medical appointments. Nothing seems too much for him to do to please his clients, and he caters to handicapped people (e.g. with wheelchairs and walkers) very efficiently and caringly.
